Agreeing to "Washingday's Birthton [i.e. Washington's Birthday]" for the next year's series, asking if two of his songs--"Christmas Carol" and "Summerfields--could be included as well, describing a visit that George W. Chadwick paid to a class that [Horatio] Parker was teaching and recalling Chadwick's comments on Ives's "Summerfields," expressing the hope that the G.W. Press will send some proofs soon, adding that Mrs. Ives always liked the two old men [i.e. Chadwick and Parker] "and she knows more about music than Chadwick, you, I, Beethoven, & even Daniel Gregory Mason!"

George Whitefield Chadwick (b. Lowell, MA, 13 November 1854; d. Boston, MA, 4 April 1931) was an American composer, teacher, organist and conductor.
